Overall, the treadmill feels very stable and its touchscreen display is easy to read-there was no wobbling or shaking during high-intensity efforts. ProForm’s proprietary cushioning helped my joints feel protected, even during sprints or steep hikes. Its belt provided adequate traction and the width was spacious enough that I never worried about slipping or tripping mid-workout.

I enjoyed both running and walking on the ProForm Pro 2000. I found it easier to exercise with more intensity when I wasn’t setting my own speed or distance and found myself improving class after class. To help you stay focused and challenged during class, you can use the treadmill’s “auto-follow” setting, which adjusts your incline and speed to match that of your instructor’s, allowing you to push yourself alongside them. Many also give pointers on proper running form to help users avoid injury. All of the iFit instructors who taught the sessions I took had positive attitudes that made me look forward to working out. You can follow instructors, personal trainers, and athletes on running paths around the globe for running, walking, and hiking workouts. The virtual running classes from iFit made my time on the Pro 2000 fly by.

If that sounds too expensive or like too much of a commitment upfront, you can still use the treadmill in manual mode. After those 30 days, you can continue your iFit membership for $39 a month, or save a little per month by committing to a longer term subscription ($369 for one year, $699 for two years, or $899 for three years).

The ProForm Pro 2000 retails for $1,799 and includes a free 30-day trial of iFit. The 20-inch-wide belt measures 60 inches long and the treadmill has a 300-pound weight capacity. The Pro 2000’s frame measures about 35 inches wide, 77 inches long, and 60 inches tall, and its “space saver” design makes it take up about half that in footprint-though with the belt folded up, it gets taller. For those tradeoffs, the ProForm retails for $500 less than the NordicTrack. They have similar footprints overall, but the NordicTrack has a slightly wider belt (22 inches compared to the ProForm’s 20 inches) and a higher max incline (15% instead of 12%). While the ProForm has a built-in 10-inch touchscreen for the streaming workout classes, the NordicTrack has a 14-inch touchscreen that also pivots for easier viewing during off-treadmill classes. The ProForm Pro 2000 is produced by Icon Fitness, which also makes our favorite connected treadmill, the NordicTrack Commercial 1750. Also, like other iFit-enabled treadmills, it has an auto-follow setting, which adjusts your speed and incline settings in sync with your virtual instructor’s training. The membership-based iFit is the workout programming platform that offers instructor-led running, walking, and hiking workouts, as well as Pilates, yoga, strength training sessions, and more. In addition to Bluetooth-compatible speakers that work with wireless headphones, it has a 10-inch HD touchscreen on which you can stream workout classes from iFit. The decline and incline levels range from -3% to 12%, and the speed ranges from 0.5 mph to a max speed of 12 mph (a 5-minute mile pace). The touchscreen-equipped ProForm Pro 2000 treadmill falls at about the mid-range for a connected treadmill, both in terms of features and price. ProForm comes out with yet another smart and modern treadmill.
